HERI is launching a series of events that bring together its students, members and followers to learn more about the institute’s activities and outreach.
The eight seminar Winter Series will be held monthly from March - October at 1pm on a Tuesday. Events are hybrid, and can be attended in person at the Archaeology Tea Room on UCT’s Upper Campus, or via Zoom.
The series kicks off with an introductory meet and greet with the HERI team and students. Also on the agenda is a sesson on decolonising the story of human origins with HERI's Dr Wendy Black and colleagues from Iziko South African Museum.
Other sessions include a look at how the new isotope lab at UCT will be the first of its kind in Africa, and an examination of how archaeological practices and its impact on communities.
Sessions are open to all HERI students and members. Those not affiliated with HERI who are interested in attending can do so by emailing: heri.uct@gmail.com.
